Rise of the Sanskrit Education Department / General Introduction
Sanskrit is the most ancient language in the world, and its literature is exceptionally rich compared to other languages. From the perspective of linguistics, it is such a developed language that, through its knowledge, any language in the world can be learned more easily. With this noble intention and elevated spirit, a separate Sanskrit Education Department has been established in the divine land of Uttarakhand for the proper development of the divine language Sanskrit.
As a result of the formation of the Sanskrit Education Department, the Directorate of Sanskrit Education has been approved with the aim of planning, managing, supervising, inspecting, and monitoring Sanskrit education throughout the state, as well as to coordinate among its various components. From the Directorate level, an integrated Sanskrit education system has been arranged from the Prathama to Acharya level. Also, a council has been formed for educational training and Sanskrit examinations.
In addition, to manage and effectively control Sanskrit education, positions of Assistant Director (Sanskrit Education) have been created at the district level. To provide affiliation to Sanskrit schools at higher levels and to preserve and promote Sanskrit literature, the Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, Haridwar has been established.
To collect and scientifically preserve the priceless Sanskrit manuscripts and inscriptions of India, the Uttarakhand Sanskrit Academy has been established.
At present, 103 Sanskrit schools/colleges are being operated in the state, out of which:
46 are colleges (up to Shastri / Acharya level),
56 are schools up to Uttar Madhyama level,
One school runs up to Purva Madhyama level,
One school runs up to Panchama (Class 5) level.
